Take one short stage from the larger route

The official Harbour Circle connects several harbour areas and is considerably more than a small loop around a square. With limited time, use it as a reference for one section. There is no need to adopt the whole route as your evening programme.

Choose a start that works with your accommodation. If Nyhavn is on your way, you can get a focused impression there without attaching more distant destinations. Check whether the place where you want to finish lies on the same side of the water.

Share bridges with their other users

The Inner Harbour Bridge links the Nyhavn area with Nordatlantens Brygge for people walking and cycling. Follow the current route markings and stop outside continuous movement areas for photographs. A bridge is both a viewpoint and a connection used in the everyday life of the city.

For a group walk, meet at a suitable place after a crossing rather than in the middle of the route. Anyone moving at a different pace or needing a pause should know the next meeting point. A simple message before setting off avoids searching for each other on both sides of the water.

Do not leave the return to a random endpoint

Before extending the walk, check how the new endpoint fits your journey back. Another harbour section may require a different connection or a longer walk. Choose that deliberately rather than continually following the next attractive view.

Consider the weather and the rest of the evening. Dinner, a phone call or preparation for tomorrow also need room. A short harbour walk with an uncomplicated finish can provide more of a break than a long outing whose final stage happens under time pressure. You can save the remaining section for a future visit.
