Ask more than whether there is a luggage room

Tell the hotel how many pieces you want to leave and when you will collect them. A large sample case differs from one ordinary suitcase. Confirm whether storage is offered to guests after checkout, what it costs and when collection closes. Ask how belongings are returned. If staff issue a receipt or claim tag, keep it separately from the luggage you are handing over.

Add the return trip to your plan

Trace the route from your final appointment back to the property and then onwards to departure. A luggage room beside your morning starting point may be a long way from the station that evening. Compare the detour with another confirmed storage option along your route. Include opening times, access arrangements and the size of your bag. An address that looks convenient on a map is not confirmation that your particular luggage will be accepted.

Keep a small day kit with you

Before handing over the case, move everything you need during the day into your work bag: travel documents, your phone, the charging leads you use and papers for the remaining meetings. Personally essential belongings should remain accessible. Consider whether the laptop and confidential documents should stay with you too. Do not leave something important inside simply because that was a convenient place to pack it the previous evening. A clear description of the case also helps at collection.

Treat collection as an appointment

Set a separate time for retrieving luggage before calculating your departure. Reception may be busy, and a stored suitcase may not appear immediately. Once it is returned, check that you have the correct bag and all your pieces. If your plans change substantially, let the property know early. Do not assume that a short storage arrangement originally agreed for one afternoon automatically extends into the following day.
