Inspect the transfer before booking

Check whether the itinerary requires a platform change or even a change of station. Stairs, narrow passages and longer routes take additional time with a large case. Use available official station information and identify suitable access routes. If you need a lift, its current status matters as well as its symbol on the plan.

Choose a connection time that suits your actual luggage and mobility. DB offers an adjustment within its journey search. Selecting more time is a planning aid; it cannot eliminate delays or last-minute changes to the service or station arrangements.

Be ready before arrival

Put away work materials in good time and keep your ticket and next connection accessible. Sorting cables and papers in the doorway makes movement harder for you and everyone else. Remember where the case is stored and remove it without endangering another passenger or blocking a passage.

Shortly before the change, check current displays and the operator's information. A previously saved platform can change. Follow the instructions on site and allow passengers to leave rather than pushing a suitcase against the flow. Move to a suitable place before pausing to inspect your phone.

Handle a missed connection practically

If the transfer is no longer safely achievable, find an appropriate place to orient yourself. Keep yourself and the case out of the main passenger flow. Check guidance about continuing and ticket validity. Merely seeing a later service listed does not confirm that your booking conditions permit you to use it.

Update the first affected appointment with a realistic estimate when one is available. Then recheck the final leg to the venue as well. A later train arrival may require different local connections or changed luggage arrangements. This creates a new complete sequence rather than simply replacing one train number in the original plan.
