Choose size according to carrying needs

Consider how long you will carry the bottle yourself and how much room the work bag offers. A very large bottle may become awkward over long walks, while a smaller one needs more frequent refilling. Test the filled weight alongside your laptop and documents. Check that the bag's side pocket actually holds it securely. A container that barely fits may slip out when you bend or obstruct access to other belongings.

Check the closure before travelling

Fill the bottle at home and inspect the lid and seal according to the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure all parts are correctly fitted and can be cleaned completely. Avoid placing drinks unprotected beside paper documents or open devices. Even a familiar lid can be screwed on poorly. A dedicated upright position in the bag supports organisation but does not replace checking its condition or handling it carefully.

Do not assume admission or refill access

Check the specific event's rules before taking a filled bottle to admission. A flight adds the current requirements of the airports and carriers involved. Find out about suitable drinking-water points at the venue rather than treating any tap as usable. A designated refill point provides different information from a washbasin with no relevant indication. If supply is unclear, plan an alternative source of drinks that is genuinely available.

Include cleaning in the evening

Empty and clean the bottle according to its instructions and let appropriate components dry. A narrow neck or complex drinking mechanism may require more effort away from home. Choose a design you can maintain with the facilities available. Use only drinks for which the container is intended. After the trip, inspect seals and odour before returning the bottle unchecked to your ready-packed exhibition luggage.
